Four Fathers

The Four Fathers project recorded and documented the relationships between men from South Asian backgrounds who had lived and live in Birmingham. The experiences and realities of these men, young and old, are often overlooked and unrecorded apart from the personal memories and stories within each family.

We found and recorded the inter-generational relationships of fathers and sons and looked at the parallels and the differences of each person’s story to understand what had changed and why. We also wanted to record the traditions from varying South Asian men to find what was still important and why.
